Mansfield & Sutton Astronomical Society

We are Sherwood Observatory, home to Mansfield & Sutton Astronomical Society. This year, 2020 we celebrate our 50th year. We have a bespoke facility at Sherwood observatory that is all self-contained as to allow us to operate in a capacity to hold on site events and cater for group visits.  Our asset is the 24-inch Newtonian telescope housed in a dome, atop of a spiral staircase. Our facility has lecture room, maintenance store, optic store, office space, kitchen and toilets. In addition to that we have a dedicated Radio Astronomy Centre on site.  Our future is bright for a proposed onsite multi-million-pound planetarium project.
